Taylor Swift Discusses 'Hunger Games' Music Video 'Safe and Sound' [VIDEO]
The highly anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins' best-selling books, "The Hunger Games" will hit the theaters in less than three weeks which is more than enough reason for fans to go wild.
Thankfully, country sensation Taylor Swift released the official music video for the film entitled "Safe and Sound" which is more than enough to curb the hunger of a few hungry "Hunger Games" fans.
Taylor Swift is a "Hunger Games" fan girl herself and being chosen to sing about the film was truly one special moment for the 22-year old Grammy Award winner. The singer had recently released the official music video for the "Hunger Games" films, "Safe and Sound" which caused a lot of hype.
Not only was the song compelling, but the music video and all its elements played tribute to the film itself. Fans of the book would easily recognize what symbols were instilled in the music video and even Swift herself admitted that it was a tribute to the movie.
"I felt like I was really needing to pay tribute to this movie and tell this story," said Swift in an interview with MTV. "There's this moment in the music video where I find this mockingjay pin and hold it up."
For those who have failed to read up on Suzanne Collins' books, the Mockingjay pin is one of the major symbols in the series. The pin was handed out to Katniss Everdeen, one of the lead played by Jennifer Lawrence, as a token which would remind her of her home, District 12. The mockingjay pin symbolized rebellion, a main theme of the book.
There are still a few symbols in the music video which fans should look out for but as far as it is concerned, there are a few things fans have yet to realize.
Fans won't have to guess because Taylor Swift released the video of the behind-the-scenes footage of the making of "Safe and Sound." The most surprising element of them all was the graveyard scene were Swift sat on a real grave.
"That's one of my favorite moments in the video," shared Taylor. "There's this wide shot where I'm just crumpled up, sitting on a gravestone. And it's actually the grave site of a couple who lived, and died, in 1853."
Despite walking barefoot and walking in the cold, Taylor Swift continued with the shoot proving her dedication to satisfy her fans with her best work and give "Hunger Games" fans something worthy to talk about.
