Trust Issues Are Apparent In ‘Guild Wars 2: Heart Of Thorns’
When the Living World update hit “Guild Wars 2,” plenty of fans were excited to play with the game’s various new features, along with the new storyline introduced. After users finished the main Living World campaign, they were given a huge cliffhanger ending that involved the destruction of a fleet of airships and the shocking revelation that a number of the Sylvari class were under the influence of Mordremoth the Elder Dragon. “Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns” will continue that storyline.
According to Polygon, this first “Guild Wars 2” expansion will begin within a day of the events that happened at the end of the Living World update. Players will reportedly head to the jungle and try to find other heroes who will join in the fight against Mordremoth.
One big question that will be raised in the game is if anyone can trust members of the Sylvari class. Given that a number of Sylvari were involved in the destruction of the airships that were taking on Mordremoth, the trust between the Sylvari and other classes will be incredibly strained. Players who chose the Sylvari class will be constantly questioned on whom their allegiance lies with, even by their oldest friends in the game.
Aside from the new story filled with mistrust, “Heart of Thorns” will also introduce new gameplay elements to the massive multiplayer online roleplaying game, or MMORPG. A new character class called The Revenant can be chosen by players and will have the ability to channel spirits and heal twice.
New playable areas will also be in the game. Some will be available right away and are ripe for exploration, while others will need players to learn new foreign languages to solve mysteries and eventually unlock the new area for exploring.
There will be no new level cap or tiers in “Heart of Thorns.” Rather than having players become more powerful through grinding, a new mastery system will be introduced in the game. After a player completes a story moment or defeats a bodd, they will be given mastery points that can be used to buy new ways to travel the world of “Guild Wars 2.” This includes gliding, high jumps, bouncing and faster running.
Fans curious to try the new expansion will be happy to know that a close beta for “Heart of Thorns” will soon be announced. According to Game Espresso, there is still no definitive date for this, but if players are hoping to get an invitation, their biggest hope for that is to sign up for the “Guild Wars 2” newsletter.
