UK retailer GAME still unable to fix ‘Super Mario Maker’ pre-order issues
UK retailer GAME had recently made the costly mistake of charging customers multiple times for pre-orders for “Super Mario Maker.” Since it was first reported by customers, GAME has already acknowledged the problem. However, the problem seems to have gotten worse as customers report to have been charged even more than the first incident.
As of Sept. 8, GAME has reportedly charged customers for up to £329 (AU$722), instead of the original £46.99 (AU$106), Eurogamer reports. The price that was deducted from the customers’ accounts is seven times more than the original listing. First reports of the incident were seen on the Twitter feed of GAME. Players first claimed that GAME charged them five times more than the original price with £234.95 (AU$515).
GAME has provided a statement on the most recent incident saying that they are currently working with banking companies to fix the issue. They, of course, apologised for the possible inconveniences caused by the issue and said that they are working on it urgently.
One of the biggest troubles of affected customers is the possible fees they may face when their account reaches below the maintaining balance after the faulty billing by GAME. Some customers have even cancelled their pre-orders to avoid more billing issues.
This issue with the “Super Mario Maker” pre-order just comes a month after some “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain” orders were cancelled by GAME. Gamespot reports that 371 pre-orders for the collector’s edition of “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain,” were cancelled. GAME blames each of the cancellations on either server or delivery issues.
With the recent issues affecting GAME, players may soon opt to not purchase from the retailer online. Although GAME is yet to detail if there really is a problem with their servers, it is reportedly keen on fixing the issues as soon as possible.
