‘Uncharted 4’ PAX Australia 2015 show off early build, mystical sidekicks, Naughty Dog talks more multiplayer maps
PS4 exclusive “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” enjoyed a lot of attention at the PAX Australia 2015. The early build of the trailer shows off its cast, as well as some major additional features.
In the multiplayer, gamers can enjoy Sidekicks, Mysticals and the grappling hook weapon. According to Lead Game Designer Robert Cogburn, what make the multiplayer intense is its intensive battle design that allows for dynamic changes and tight firefights as players move through the map. For players, this will entail coordination and cooperation more than sheer numbers, PlayStation Blog detailed.
The trailer, seen below, does not encompass that “Uncharted 4” has to offer. However, players can expect a taste of what’s to come on Dec. 4, when the beta arrives for those who have ordered “Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.”
The new gameplay footage is not the only thing that the developer revealed at PAX Australia 2015. The Q&A portion at the panel revealed a few things, including possible plans for additional multiplayer maps, characters that can appear in the franchise and more.
It appears that Naughty Dog is thinking of adding new multiplayer maps based on some of the set-pieces located in the series. This is in addition to the eight maps coming at launch with the multiplayer. However, even though the maps are new, Naughty Dog has reportedly been looking at ways to add some elements into each level, among which is environment changes, Power Up Gaming reported.
Fans who have been following the franchise since the beginning might feel a little nostalgic about “Uncharted 4” as the last in the series for Nathan Drake. As such, there was also a fan question of whether they will get to see past characters from other “Uncharted” games in “Uncharted 4.”
Community Strategist Arne Meyer had been coy about their plans, stating that the idea has not yet been discussed within the studio. But he is also quick to add that there is a possibility it might come up, following the same organic way it did in “Uncharted 2.” This is far from a promise though.
Additionally, Naughty Dog also delved into the details of why the resolution for the game is set at 900p. According to Attack of the Fanboy, the 60FPS for the multiplayer can be achieved with the 900p approach. The team made it a priority, since pushing the resolution to 1080p actually has a big difference performance-wise. Because of Naughty Dog’s decision, the game will enjoy a 20 percent increase in performance for its framerate.
Fans don’t have to worry about the single-player campaign resolution, as it is on 1080p. However, Naughty Dog has not changed its intention of putting it at 30FPS for best quality, as single-player campaign only involves AI enemies.
