Underdogs win at 'League of Legends' finals

The North American Championship Finals for “League of Legends” took place on Aug. 23 in Madison Square Garden. Fans watched in excitement as an underdog rose up from the ranks to completely destroy one of the best teams in “League of Legends” competitive tournament history.

The final match was between Team SoloMid and Counter Logic Gaming. According to Gamespot, the two teams have been in a heated rivalry for a long time. The owners of the teams were once allies and played on the same team, but they went separate ways after disputes.

Between the two, Team SoloMid has become a more well-known team through its success in both local and international competitions. On the other hand, Counter Logic Gaming remains the weaker between the two. Counter Logic Gaming would always start a competition strongly and nearly decimate any team that gets in its way. However, it is also known to become weaker as the competition comes to a conclusion.

At this year’s tournament, however, Counter Logic Gaming turned the tide as it completely destroyed Team SoloMid at one of the grandest “League of Legends” tournament. Gamespot reports that Counter Logic Gaming secured the title through smart hero picks, good gameplay and a good coaching staff.

Counter Logic Gaming employed the coaching prowess of a basketball team coach. With the win, Counter Logic Gaming secured a first seed place as a North American representative at the World Championships later this year. The team stated in a press conference that the next few weeks will be spent training in Korea in preparation for the tournament.

Many fans have been a witness to the great rivalry of the aforementioned teams. The teams actually made a bet for the “League of Legends” match. The bet was that the losing team’s leader would have to dye his hair pink.
