Upcoming ‘Samsung Galaxy Grand 3’ Clears TENAA, To Feature 5.25-Inch Display, 13 MP Camera And More
Reportedly, Samsung is gearing up to release the successor of the well-received Galaxy Grand 2 called the Galaxy Grand 3. It is worth noting that the Grand 2 was one of the bestselling smartphones for the South Korean tech giant. Even though the Samsung Galaxy Grand 3 with model number SM-G7200 has not been officially announced, the device recently made a visit to TENAA, the famous Telecommunications Equipment Certification Centre in China.
Apparently, the device has cleared TENAA certification, thereby revealing key specifications. Contrary to the earlier rumours of housing a whopping 5.5-inch display, the Galaxy Grand 3 will reportedly feature only a pocket-friendly 5.25-inch TFT display, bundled with 720 × 1,280 pixels screen resolution, similar to Grand 2. Speaking of size, the new device will be 7.95 mm thick and will weigh only 140 g. This means the Grand 3 is both slimmer and lighter than the predecessor Grand 2, which is 8.9 mm thick and weighs 163 g, according to Phone Arena.
Moving on to the camera specification, the device will reportedly sport an enhanced 13 MP rear-facing unit, in addition to a 5 MP snapper for selfies. Under the hood, the phone will be powered by a 64-bit, quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 410) processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz and backed by 1.5 GB of RAM. On the software side, the handset will run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS.
The device will be equipped with 16 GB of built-in storage and microSD card support for expansion up to 128 GB. Plus, the Galaxy Grand 2 successor will support Bluetooth, USB port, GSM, TD-SCDMA, TD-LTE, LTE FDD and WCDMA connectivity options.
Furthermore, the Galaxy Grand 3 will be available in white and black, among others. Nonetheless, there is no official information available to ascertain the release date or the pricing details of the upcoming handset.
Samsung has released a slew of mid-range to high-end smartphones in 2014, but none of them have broken any previously set sales records. Plus, the current market situation of Samsung doesn't look good either. On that note, do you think the Grand 3 stands a chance? Feel free to leave a comment.
