Samsung released another firmware update for Galaxy S3 mini I890T with DCAMA3 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware. The update is accessible and highly recommended using Samsung Kies PC Suite on your computer. But if owners cannot update using the Kies, a manual procedure with step-by-step guide is available.

Warning: The procedure will use a flashing tool called "Odin" and flashing this official firmware will wipe out all existing installed applications and data files including personal settings on the Galaxy S3 mini. Make sure to create a backup of important information and files you want to restore later. Carefully follow the guide and never try it with any other devices. Do this at your own risk.

Requirements:

1. Samsung Galaxy S3 mini I890T

2. A computer or notebook (preferably running Windows OS)

3. Download the official Android 4.1.2 i890TDCAMA3 firmware from Samsung

4. Download Odin 3.07 flashing tool

5. The device must have at least 80 per cent battery level to prevent power interruption

Instructions:

1. Extract the I890TDCAMA3_I890TTNZAMA2_TNZ.zip from the downloaded firmware folder get the .tar extension file.

2. Extract the Odin3 v3.07.exe file from the Odin downloaded file.

3. Turn of the Galaxy S3 mini. Wait 5 seconds to complete the power down cycle.

4. Restart the device to Download mode. Press and hold Volume down + Home + Power buttons till the screen flashes the Samsung logo.

5. Right click on the Odin3 v3.07.exe and "Run as Administrator."

6. Connect the Galaxy S3 mini using a USB cable and wait till you see "Added" on the Odin tool. If no notification appear, try another USB port on your computer. The COM port will also flash the colour yellow, indicating that the device has been detected.

7. Select the files in the Odin tool on their respective tabs from the DCAMA3 firmware folder:

a. Select PDA button and choose the .tar file.

b. Select the Phone button and choose the file with *modem* in its name. Ignore if the file does not exist.

c. Select the CSC button and choose the file with *csc* in its name. Ignore if the file does not exist.

d. Select the PIT button and choose the .pit file. Ignore if you do not have the file.

e. Make sure to check the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes in the Odin tool. If you are using .pit file, check the Re-Partition checkbox.

8. Hit "Start" and wait for the flashing process which takes about 3-5 minutes to complete.

9. After the installation, the device will restart automatically and disconnect it from the computer once you see the "PASS" notification from the Odin tool.

Congratulations! Your Galaxy S3 mini is now running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean build I890TDCAMA3. To confirm, go to Settings > About Phone.
