At the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con "The Vampire Diaries" panel on Saturday, July 26, actor Matt Davis and executive producer Julie Plec responded to the fan questions about returning character Alaric Saltzman. The 36-year-old actor and show producer teased that things will not initially go well for Alaric in Mystic Falls after returning from the Other Side.

Executive producer Julie Plec spilled some details about the fan-favorite character during the panel that Damian Holbrook of TV Guide magazine moderated. According to Plec, Alaric Saltzman will be struggling during the time jump on the CW TV series about four months after the Other Side collapsed with Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) and Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham).

TVD fans can recall that the teacher/vampire hunter was transformed into an Original vampire before he died. "After being a weird vampire and a ghost for all this time he's assimilating into his life as this creature he never wanted to be," Plec teased in the TV Guide interview.

The executive producer added that Alaric Saltzman will still try to go back to what he was like as a human being but things will not be easy for him. One of those things appears to be Enzo (Michael Malarkey) because Julie Plec hinted that the Augustine vampire will most likely piss off Alaric Saltzman.

As for the actor portraying the resurrected character in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6, Matt Davis revealed that Alaric Saltzman will be living outside of Mystic Falls and he will be going back to his passion for teaching. However, Davis further teased to TV Guide that Alaric was able to become a teacher once again at a local university after compelling his way to get the teaching position.

Julie Plec continued to tease in the TV Guide interview that if there is one TVD character that deserves naughtiness, it will be Alaric Saltzman. "There might be some help and assistance that comes in the form of a woman he'll meet," the executive producer shared.

Alaric may meet a new woman in his life but another woman will always be important to him and it is none other than Elena (Nina Dobrev). Julie Plec shared that Alaric and Elena will become closer than ever in the brand new season.

"Which is great because she has somebody in her life she can really rely on and they can share their grief together," Plec explained. The Season 5 finale broke Elena's heart when the love of her life, Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder), did not come back from the Other Side.

Alaric will mourning over Damon's loss as well because of the friendship that they developed in the past so it is expected that the two characters will help each other to move on from the painful experience. "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 is scheduled to premiere on Thursday night, Oct 2, at 8/7c on the CW Network.
