Vin Diesel Names Baby Daughter After 'Fast & Furious 7' Co-Star Paul Walker
Vin Diesel named his newborn after his “Fast & Furious 7” co-star Paul Walker as a tribute to the deceased actor, who passed away in November 2013 from a car accident. Now Diesel would always remember him through his daughter.
Vin Diesel told The Today Show on Monday that he had named his new baby girl with longtime girlfriend Paloma Jimenez something special. "I named her Pauline," he revealed to host Natalie Morales. Diesel, who is already a proud father to a son and daughter with Jimenez, shared that he felt Paul Walker’s presence in the room when his new daughter arrived. "There's no other person that I was thinking about as I was cutting this umbilical cord. I just... knew he was there,” he added. Thus, Diesel decided to name his daughter after his “Fast & Furious 7” co-star as a way to keep Paul Walker’s memory a part of his family and his world.
Vin Diesel always had a special place for Paul Walker in his heart and had been close friends with him since they’ve co-starred in five of the “Fast & Furious” films. Speaking about the actor’s death during the recent screening of “Fast & Furious 7,” Diesel admitted he not only lost his best friend but also his brother.
Diesel had opened the “Fast & Furious 7” screening on Monday, where he called the latest movie franchise as something very important and “very personal” to all the cast and crew. According to The Business Insider, his over three-minute movie introduction was also part tribute to the late Paul Walker. Diesel couldn’t help but get emotional nearing the end of his speech when he said the sequel was made from the heart as a gift not only for the fans but also for the late actor whom he called his brother. From the video below, the actor could be seen pointing up at the screen to the image of the late Paul Walker as he spoke to the crowd of fans at the screening.
