Wallet-Friendly 'Microsoft Lumia 535' Retails In India For $148, UK To Follow Suit
Microsoft's Lumia 535 is the first smartphone from the company to carry "Microsoft" moniker instead of the ubiquitous "Nokia" seen in virtually all the Lumia handsets, released thus far. Right after launching the smartphone, Microsoft has released the device in India. Apparently, the handset will make international debut shortly. It is worth noting that the new Lumia 535 is the successor to the well-received Lumia 530.
The Microsoft Lumia 535 is priced at 9,199 INR in India, which roughly translates to US$148, AU$174 and 94 GBP. This dual-SIM handset can be availed in four hues and they are black, white, green and orange. As far as the key specifications go, the Lumia 535 features a 5.0-inch IPS LCD display complemented by 540 x 960 pixels screen resolution. The phone is powered by a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 200) Cortex-A7 processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz and backed by 1 GB of RAM, reports Phone Arena.
Being a Windows Phone 8.1 device, this Lumia handset comes bundled with the much-required Microsoft Office, digital personal assistant Cortana, OneNote and Skype. Additionally, the device buyers will also get 15 GB of free OneDrive cloud storage space. Speaking of camera, there is a 5 MP snapper unit in the rear, as well as the front of the handset. According to Microsoft, the 5 MP camera can take wide-angle shots and fine-tuned to take better low-light photographs, notes Tech 2. Plus, the phone comes equipped with a respectable 8 GB of internal storage capacity and microSD card support for expansion up to 128 GB. Lastly, this whole configuration is held together by a modest 1,905 mAh battery unit. This battery is capable of providing 13 hours of 3G talk time and 552 hours of stand-by time.
With the Lumia 535, Microsoft has corrected some of the stand-out defects in the predecessor Lumia 530. This includes the relatively sharper display and the introduction of the front-facing camera unit. Other differences include, the shiny back shell and the built-in LED flash support, says Tech 2.
Reportedly, Microsoft has targeted only the emerging markets to sell its brand new Lumia device. But then, the tech giant's UK website has already listed the Lumia 535 as "coming soon." However, the exact pricing details and release date are unknown at this point.
