Horny people would probably say "See, I told you" upon hearing the result of a study done by the University of Maryland researchers. The study linked the production of more new brain cells after mating.

However, the experiment was on middle-aged lab mice which were found to have more brainpower because of frequent sexual activity. The benefits to the brain stopped when the rodents stopped mating.

But the study said having sex is not the only method to make new brain cells. The mice could also do it via exercise or ingesting Prozac, psychologist Tracey Shors explained on Wednesday at the Society for Neuroscience conference.

The Atlantic Web site, though, pointed out that being smarter does not mean you should have more sex, emphasising that "Smarter teens, in fact, tend to delay the initiation of their coital activities."

A second research by the Kontuk University in South Korea, published in 2013, said that sexual activity also counteracts the effect of stress on mice brain.
