Where to get the NES Classic Edition: Best Buy to sell console to first customers on Dec. 20
Nintendo is evidently making good on their promise to restock the illusive NES Classic Edition console, as a handful of retailers have announced new stocks. One of the latest major stores to announce the same is Best Buy in the United States, which will begin selling the hot item on Tuesday, Dec. 20.
The company told BGR that units will be sold on a first come, first served basis. And because only limited stocks are expected, it would be best for interested buyers to log in quickly. The reshipments of the NES Classic Edition are usually not announced with a significant amount of lead time, so by announcing the same as early as now, Best Buy is allowing customers to prepare and mull the purchase over.
Earlier this week, Amazon and ThinkGeek announced their own restock of the much awaited console. However, Amazon is limiting the same to its Prime Now subscribers, so only those in select cities will be able to purchase the same. Meanwhile, ThinkGeek is giving everyone a relatively more equal shot at the device as customers only need to add the item to their dream cart, and the retailer will randomly choose among these people to sell it to.
The publisher also disclosed that Best Buy will be having a sale of Black Friday proportions, which will begin on Dec. 15 and will close on Dec. 20 at 11:30am EST (Dec. 21 at 3:30am ACT). The sale will include some of the year’s hottest items, including the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. In addition, the retailer will offer buyers with free two-day shipping on most products.
The NES Classic Edition, which was released more than a month ago, quickly became one of the hottest consoles of the year. It is a remake of the 1985 Nintendo Entertainment System and is pre-installed with 30 of the best and most beloved retro game titles, including “The Legend Of Zelda,” “Donkey Kong” “Final Fantasy” and several “Mario” titles. It retails for US$60 (AU$80).
