Windows 10 Will Be Available As Free Upgrades For Pirated Versions Of Windows 7 And Windows 8
Microsoft is carrying out the Windows Hardware Engineering Community (WinHEC) in China. It has already a lot of information on the desktop as well as mobile edition of the Windows 10 OS.
The official Windows Blog states that the Windows 10 will be released in the coming summer for devices running on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.1. By making the new Windows 10 available in 190 countries with 111 languages, Microsoft aims to provide it to millions of customers as a free upgrade.
According to the Reuters, in China most of the users are using pirated versions of Windows OS as a study has shown that three-quarters of computer users are using non-genuine editions of the predecessor editions of operating system for Windows PCs. At the WinHEC conference, Terry Myerson, the Vice President of Operating Systems with the Redmond giant, has declared that both genuine and non-genuine versions of Windows users will be qualified to install the Windows 10.
Without elaborating more, Terry added that by doing so, Microsoft aims to re-engage with the Chinese consumer market that has millions of Windows users. Microsoft will be partnering with Lenovo, the biggest manufacturer of PCs in the world, to release Windows 10 in existing users the Chinese market.
Lenovo will be unveiling a Windows 10 running smartphone through China Mobile later this year. Microsoft is also currently working on releasing a custom ROM of Windows 10 for Android devices. It will be working with Xiaomi to test the custom ROM on Xiaomi Mi 4 smartphone.
To further expand the reach of Windows 10 in Chinese market, Microsoft will team up with Qihoo 360 Technology, a popular internet security firm from China. Microsoft will also tie up with Tencent Holdings, the most popular social networking firm in China will be developing an app for Windows 10 for desktops and mobile devices to access the highly popular QQ gaming and instant messaging service.
