'The Witcher 3,' 'Batman Arkham Knight,' Dozens More Discounted In SteamOS Sale
It seems not a week goes by without news of a new Humble Bundle or Steam sale being announced to drain the wallets of gamers. To draw attention to its recent announcements on SteamOS, as well as the impending availability of Steam Machines, Valve has announced a brand new SteamOS sale.
The announcement follows Sony’s previously reported Spring Fever 2015 sale, with valve naturally focusing on the PC platform and its Linux variant, SteamOS in particular. Valve has discounted a staggering 52 games as part of the SteamOS sale, many of them AAA titles. The sale runs until March 9.
There are up to 80 percent discounts for older titles, like “PayDay 2,” “Torchlight 2,” and “The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition.” Gamers can also save a few bucks pre-ordering major upcoming releases, like “Batman Arkham Knight,” and “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” both available at a 10 percent discount.
Other notable deals include savings on multiple Game of the Year award winner “Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor,” existential first-person puzzler “The Talos Principle,” 2D survival simulator, “This War of Mine,” atmospheric first-person shooters, “Metro Last Light Redux” and “Metro 2033 Redux,” and much more. The sale runs the gamut of genres from trippy indie efforts like “Crypt of the NecroDancer” and “Kerbal Space Program” to established juggernauts like 2K’s “Borderlands The Pre-Sequel.” It appears there’s something for just about everyone.
As noted by PC Gamer in its coverage of the sale, Valve recently announced that its long-awaited Steam Machines, custom-built PC’s running the company’s SteamOS, would be rolling out later this year. Valve also announced the impending launch of its Steam Link box, a micro-PC capable of streaming Steam-based games over a home network at low latency. As previously reported, the Steam Link will be available in November at a price point of $49.99 and gamers will be able to purchase an optional Steam Controller for an additional $49.99.
