WWE News: John Cena Still Chasing Rusev

John Cena has long been the face of the World Wrestling Entertainment, or WWE, universe that it is weird to see the 15-time champion chasing around a new heel for a match at Wrestlemania 31. With just a few weeks away from the biggest pay-per-view event of the year, Cena is still without an official match and Rusev continues to spur the challenge for a rematch from to stake the United States Title which he snatched during WWE Fastlane.

As an alternative, Cena announced that he is planning to partake in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale but Stephanie McMahon has quickly blocked his best laid plans and made it much harder for the leader of Cenation to secure a spotlight in the annual event to be held in the Levi’s Stadium in California. With Rusev still eluding him, Cena is running out of alternatives given that McMahon has explicitly stated that the only way he can be on the card is if he is granted a rematch by the man who low-blowed him in Fastlane.

“McMahon quashed Cena’s hopes by declaring that the only way he would get on The Show of Shows card was if Rusev, the man he lost to at WWE Fastlane, granted him a rematch for the United States Championship,” Sky Sports relayed in its latest coverage of the matter.

The scenario became more complicated after the WWE recently announced that it will hold a U.S. Title match during next week’s RAW. Rusev will contest his belt against Curtis Axel, who was all willing to show his “Axelmania” and spoil any plans for a Cena-Rusev starrer in ‘Mania. Whether Axel will actually triumph is very unlikely as it will displace 2 key wrestlers without anything to contest with Wrestlemania 31 just 2 weeks away.

The undefeated factor in Rusev’s resume and microphone skills of manager Lana have been an effective way to rouse the anger of the fans and build up the anticipation for the match. Several wrestling sites have already speculated that the U.S. Title match is being billed as a co-main event to the Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns top biller so much so that even Hulk Hogan is rumoured to be on hand to aid Cena’s corner. Until then, and without any confirmation from the WWE, Cena’s fate all rests in the hand of the Rusev.
