Longtime fans may be looking forward to “Quantum Break" as part of Microsoft’s lineup of titles for briefing at Gamescom 2015. In line with this, Xbox head Phil Spencer has also teased the possible release date of the title at the gaming event as well.

The game’s release date has been pushed a number of times, and now new reports say that the much-awaited game will be released in 2016. However, fans still believe that the game will be revealed this year following Spencer's hint of the game's possible launch date. In a conversation with a fan on Twitter about the release of “Quantum Break,” Spencer said that fans will receive some news come Tuesday, DualShockers reports.

A Gamescom reveal of the game’s launch date isn’t too far-fetched as the last time “Quantum Break” was seen was during a trailer at last year’s Gamescom. Based on the gameplay trailer, “Quantum Break” has a similar gameplay with other story-driven titles such as “Life is Strange” and the upcoming “Until Dawn.” The majority of the gameplay is about the player making choices that could create adverse effects and consequences to the story.

“Quantum Break” was first revealed back in 2013 at Microsoft’s E3 press conference. The game played more like a movie rather than a video game and was story-driven. It was showcased along tons of other games, including “Titanfall,” but it is yet to be released until now.

“Quantum Break” was part of Microsoft’s plan to offer original television content for the Xbox One. There were other video game/TV hybrids, but Microsoft has abandoned them, leaving only “Quantum Break.” The first game is the first season of a larger story, but there is still little knowledge on how the game actually works.

According to Gamerant, “Quantum Break” will also feature actors and actresses from "Lord of the Rings" and "X-Men" series. One of the actors for the game is Shawn Ashmore, who played Iceman in the "X-Men" movies. This may be game developer Remedy Entertainment's way of following the trend of using actors and actresses for video game roles. Other famous actors found in video games include Kevin Spacey in “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare” and Hayden Panettiere in “Until Dawn.”
