With October already settled in, the Xbox One October System update is finally coming to more Xbox One users, with the aim of improving Microsoft's next-gen console even more. This month, the main focus is the Snap and Friends function, which are both looking at added features and improvements.

Detailed over at the Xbox Wire, the following areas will be getting updates and additions:

- Snap updates: Get quick access via the Snap Center to some of the most requested sections of the Xbox One, including Friends, Messages, battery indicator, and the menu for opening a new app in snap mode.

- Friends Snap App: Gives you access to your friends list without leaving the game to check on messages or notifications.

- Messages Snap App: Open, read, and respond to messages, which are now arranged in a threaded view.

- Achievements App: Share your achievements easily, see your friends with their unlocked achievements, and see which games your friends have recently played.

- Friends section: Stay up-to-date with friends' activities and view the Gamerscore leaderboard to see who's winning and winning some more in the span of 30 days.

Apart from the Xbox One gaming-centric features, the Xbox One October System update is also giving the entertainment features of the Xbox One some improvements. Among the upcoming new features are the following:

- Accessory features, including the Updated Devices & Accessories page, where you can assign accessories to specific users

- Firmware updates for individual device

- Find my Controller: for those who need to find a controller by making it vibrate

- More secure password resets: Protect your accounts by resetting passwords more securely. This feature will come later on this month, and will feature more steps, such as alternate email address and cell numbers for password resets.

'Killer Instinct 2' Introduces More Characters

The Xbox exclusive fighting game has been given a new trailer, which shows off the eight characters that will be coming in for the game. According to OXM, the new fighters will also be bringing new moves as they debut for "Killer Instinct 2" one fighter at a time per month.

The source reports that the first two will be TJ Combo and Maya, but in the trailer seen below, the silhouettes of the other fighters can be seen, including one which looks a lot like a dinosaur. There are three ways to get the characters-the Combo Breaker Pack, the Ultra Edition (which has additional freebie costumes, accessory packs and the "Killer Instinct 2" classic edition) and through individual character DLC purchase.

More Games Debut on the Deals with Gold for Microsoft

Major Nelson has also announced via his official blog the list of games that are included in the Deals with Gold for October. The Xbox One will have three games included in the discount, namely "Rayman Legends," "Outlast" and "Worms Battlegrounds." The three games will be discounted at varying prices of 40% and 25%. There will also be one add-on, titled "Battlefield 4 Support Shortcut Kit."

Those playing on the Xbox 360 will also get three games offered at a discount: "Dragon Origins," "Dragon Age II" and "Kingdoms of Amateur: Reckoning." A couple of add-ons are coming to the Xbox 360, though they are mostly centered on providing DLCs to the mentioned main games.

Deals with gold is available for Xbox One and Xbox 360 players. To avail of the discount, gamers need to be Xbox Live Gold and Silver members.
