Sony fans will be patiently waiting for the announcement made at Gamescom regarding the release date of the PS4, an announcement that has been made by Sony days before the actual event.

To keep the long battle with Microsoft in terms of the console wars, Microsoft is also expected to make an announcement for its console regarding when it plans to put down a release date.

There have already been various reports about the delay of the Xbox One for eight of the 21 target markets, and even though Microsoft has provided ample instructions on how people can get if on Day One if they really wanted to, it would be best for them to announce something concrete at Gamescom.

Many games, one event

But regardless of the release date announcement, Microsoft seems to be gearing for an explosive event at Gamescom, perhaps as a possible compensation for E3 2013.

In this most recent video, the Xbox One tries to showcase what it deems to be its strength--its lineup of AAA games. You can see Killer Instinct, Watch Dogs, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Titanfall, FIFA 14, and Forza 5, to name a few. Some of these are Xbox exclusives, while others are games shared with the PS4, but have exclusive content solely for the Xbox One.

A recent leak of Microsoft's lineup reveals 50 games in total for the event, with almost 40% of the titles being exclusives.

PC Mag has the complete list of games, which include Dead Rising 3, Halo for Xbox One, Minecraft: Xbox One Edition, Ryse: Son of Rome, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, and Sunset Overdrive, all of which are exclusives for the console.

But what is noticeable is that how, even with Microsoft embracing independent developers after another policy reversal on self-publishing, there still hasn't been any word on an upcoming indie title for the Xbox One.

Now either this could be Microsoft just pushing all its luck to the blockbusters, or there's something brewing up its alley that will make a debut in a few days come Gamescom.

Improving the Xbox One bundle

As though the many changes in policies were not enough, Microsoft has also tried to show its fans that it listens to them, and it has done so by adding the Xbox One headset to the Standard Edition and Launch Edition versions of the console.

Sad to say, many fans are still not convinced, with some of them still wanting Microsoft to take the Kinect out of the equation so that it can pull down the price at the same level as Sony's PS4.

While Microsoft has been vehement about this one feature, it does aim to make the $499 price range a little more bearable.

According to CVG, sources have leaked that a third-party developer may reveal at Gamescome a possible partnership with Microsoft, one that will allow the console to release a major title for free alongside the Xbox One bundle.

The report states that this is one of Microsoft's ways of not just making the Xbox One experience a more valuable one, but to also ensure that it closes the monetary gap that the PS4 has over it.

Given that this free title is pegged to be a major one, it may be that any one of the listed 50 games that Microsoft has will be offering a free copy with each bundle and may be readying itself for an announcement come Gamescom.

For now, Microsoft remains mum about the deal, perhaps to create more buzz at the upcoming Gamescom.
