Xbox One, Xbox 360 Separate Achievements, GDC 2013 Sessions for Ouya, Nvidia Shield Announced; PS Vita Update Out
For gamers who keep a close eye on their achievement sets, it pays to have both the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One, as the most recent announcement on the achievements state that achievements are separate for each console, regardless if you're playing the same game.
"On the Xbox One version, you're getting a much richer set of features, such as seeing your achievements progress on the Xbox One console, being able to unlock new achievements throughout the year, and earning real prizes inside and outside of the game," said Xbox One's Marc Whitten in a statement quoted by Eurogamer.
This means that you can easily earn different Gamerscores from one title. But according to EGM Now, the catch here is that you would have to buy two copies of the same game to get all the goods--which could be the next debate on worthiness for Gamercore hunters.
This isn't the only way to go about hunting for more achievements, as Eurogamer also points out that there are Microsoft platforms that don't necessarily share achievements, such as the XBLA, Windows Phone, and Windows 8, so those who are not keen on owning or playing on both consoles won't be too far behind on the achievements.
Beyond PS4 and Xbox One: GDC showcases unconsoles
The GDC 2013 is not just slated to be a battleground for the PS4 and the Xbox One as the dubbed "unconsoles" will also be featured in panels and sessions of their own.
According to VG 24/7, the likes of Nvidia Shield, Ouya, GameStick, and MOGA, gaming devices that have tried to deviate from what the bigwigs have already staked claim to, will be featured in panels like "Will Unconsoles Become the Real Next-Gen Consoles?" and will feature a heavy cast like Ouya CEO Julie Uhrman, Nvidia technical evangelist Phil Scott, head of games at PlayJam Sameer Baroova, and more.
Another panel that will be focusing on these devices is "Divided Loyalties: Developing and Running Cross-Platform Social Games" but this time, geared towards more Facebook and mobile topics, something that also concerns the unconsoles.
So far, the growing following for these devices have seen them as a potential second gaming device at home, given the price range for the likes of Ouya as well as a means to get more diverse games.
Watch out for these panels at the GDC 2013 on August 19 to 21.
