Xbox One’s China Launch Delayed Indefinitely, Japan Launch Has ‘Titanfall’ As Best-Selling Game
After the announcement of the ban lift in China for gaming consoles, the Xbox One was supposed to be the first console to debut there. But it seems that Microsoft's next-gen console will see some months' worth of delay.
Microsoft has already announced that the Xbox One won't see the light of launch in China this coming Sept. 23, which was the original release date. However, the only statement that the company has given is that it needs more time, with no explanations as to why it is so.
"Despite strong and steady progress, we are going to need a bit more time to deliver the best experiences possible for our fans in China. At Xbox, we pride ourselves on delivering first-rate gaming and entertainment experiences, and to allow us to deliver on that promise, we need to reschedule the launch of Xbox One," Microsoft said in a statement quoted by The Wall Street Journal.
Sony's PS4 is also slated to debut in China, though the company has also not yet given an exact release date. The Xbox One's delay may spell good news for Sony's next-gen console, because the holidays for 2014 is now the ideal time to release the consoles.
This is not the only update for the Xbox One's sales, however, as DualShockers has reported on the sales figures in Japan during its first week since launch. According to the source, the console has already sold over 23,000 units in less than a month. "Titanfall," the Xbox exclusive shooter game, has been spearheading the sales as the top-selling game of the console at 22,416 units sold. "Kinect Sports Rivals" and "Dead Rising 3" come to a close second and third place.
"Titanfall" has been doing well in terms of updates, seeing as how the last downloadable map pack has also just been detailed by developer Respawn Entertainment. Over at the Xbox Wire, the developer has shown off a few new details for the upcoming expansion.
IMC Rising is expected to have three maps, namely Zone 18, Backwater and Desert Wasteland. The latest, Zone 18, keeps strategy at a more complex level compared to the previously showcased Backwater and Desert Wasteland, as it is the one map that works on confrontation and direct attacks between players and Titans.
Respawn has even shown off the map of Zone 18, stating that it has two main sections, where players will be forced to confront each other, thanks to the underground hallways for choke points. Some screenshots can be seen in the official website link here. "IMC Rising" expansion for "Titanfall" is still not yet dated, but it's expected to launch sometime later this year. Considering the new timeline for China's launch date, it may not be a surprise if the release date coincide.
