Upcoming Mi4 successor “Xiaomi Mi5” has apparently arrived at the final stage of the prototype testing. However, the Xiaomi Mi5 release date has reportedly been postponed.

Lei Jun, Xiaomi CEO, has apparently posted an image filled with prototypes of all the Mi-series of handsets like the Mi2S, Mi3, Mi4, Mi Note, in addition to the Redmi line-up of devices developed by the R&D team via his Weibo account, notes Gizmo China. More importantly, Jun has pointed out that the company considers the consumer feedback and build-quality of the Xiaomi handsets seriously. And in order to keep up with the expectations, Xiaomi team apparently builds five to six prototypes of each product prior to finalising the handset for mass production. Reportedly, many believe that, the aforesaid message/image has been uploaded indicating the arrival of the Xiaomi Mi5 handset. And the possible Xiaomi Mi5 release date could be around July time-frame. Also, it is worth noting that the predecessor Xiaomi Mi4 was also launched in the same time period in 2014, notes IBTimes IN.

On the contrary, market analyst Pan Jiutang has apparently stated via his Weibo account that the Xiaomi Mi5 launch has been postponed to Q4 of 2015. And moreover, the Chinese tech giant has reportedly packed up identical specifications seen in the latest Xiaomi Mi Note phablet on its flagship. Therefore, to avoid any issues, Xiaomi will be launching the flagship device Mi5 in Q4 and not in July, as reported earlier.

As far as the rumoured Xiaomi Mi5 specifications go, the device will reportedly feature either a 5.0-inch or 5.5-inch QHD display with a resolution of 1,560 x 1,440 pixels. Under the hood, the handset will apparently be powered by an octa-core, 64-bit (Qualcomm Snapdragon 810) processor and will be backed by either a 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM configuration. On the software end, the phone will run Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with Xiaomi’s MIUI on top of it. When it comes to camera specification, there will reportedly be a killer 20.7 MP Sony sensor on the back and an unspecified unit on the front with wide-angle snapper. Nonetheless, readers should note that the tech giant has not confirmed the Xiaomi Mi5 specifications and release date thus far.
