The Xiaomi Mi5 is purported as the successor model for the Xiaomi Mi4 flagship from last year. It is one of the most awaited device of 2015. The Xiaomi Mi5 release date is still under the wraps, but the information on the specs of the device is slowly shaping up thanks to the rumours coming from multiple sources.

According to Gizmo China that cites My Drives as the main source, the Chinese smartphone manufacturing company has filed a new patent for a fingerprint sensor. Rumours have it that the Xiaomi Mi5 will arrive with a fingerprint scanner embedded on its Home button. Such biometric sensor functionality can be seen on the iPhone 6 and the Galaxy S6 from Samsung.

Many Chinese smartphones come with a fingerprint scanner sitting on the rear side of the device. However, the patent information reveals that the fingerprint sensor will be placed at the front embedded in the physical Home button. Gizmo China adds that in order to accentuate the beauty, the makers have put a glass on the Home button. What about the rest of the Xiaomi Mi5 specs? According to the Phone Arena listing of the Xiaomi Mi5, the device is heavily speculated to arrive with a 5.2-inch screen that supports Quad HD resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels with a high pixel density of 565 ppi.

The Xiaomi Mi5 is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 805 chipset. If it comes true, the Xiaomi Mi5 will not be called as a flagship device as the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro is a flagship as it comes with Snapdragon 810 chipset.

The Snapdragon 805 chipset is the very same chipset that is present inside the Galaxy Note 4. The chipset includes a quad-core processor that delivers a clocking speed of 2.7 GHz along with Adreno 430 graphics. The chipset will be complemented by 3 GB of RAM.

The Xiaomi Mi5 will come with inbuilt storage capacities like the 16 GB and 64 GB. It will come preloaded with Android 5.1 OS overlaid with MIUI 7 proprietary software, adds NDTV Gadgets.

The camera sitting on the backside of the device will be of 16 MP whereas the one at the front will be of 8 MP. Lastly, the device will be packed with a huge battery of 3600 mAh. Another Phone Arena post reveals that it may launch with a price tag of $370. It has also posted leaked photos of the Xiaomi Mi4 sucessor.
