Xiaomi Mi5 Release Date Set For November, 5.3-inch Quad HD Display, Snapdragon 420 And More Expected
Fresh information on the purported specs of the Xiaomi Mi5 has surfaced. By looking at the specs, it can be felt that Xiaomi is readying powerful flagships that will compete against flagship smartphones from major brands later this year.
According to Mobi Picker, the unannounced Xiaomi Mi5 is codenamed as Libra. It will be coming with a 5.3-inch Quad HD display that will support a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. It offers a pixel density of 554 ppi.
It will be powered by the Snapdragon 820 chipset coupled with 4 GB of RAM. The Snapdragon 820 SoC was announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 tech show in March this year.
According to a report published by Phone Arena, the chipset houses a 64-bit custom processor called Kryo that delivers a clocking speed of 3.0 GHz. Rumors has it that it will be built by Samsung with 14 nm FinFET manufacturing technology.
Mobi Picker claims that the Xiaomi Mi5 will be available in two internal storage variants of 16 GB and 64 GB. It will also feature external storage. However, its storage capacity details are not available yet.
The Xiaomi Mi5 will come with a 16 MP rear camera and it will be housing a front-facing camera of 6 MP. The handset will come preloaded with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. It will be overlaid with Xiaomi’s proprietary software.
It will be featuring a fingerprint sensor. The handset will be equipped with a 3030 mAh battery. The report does not reveal anything on Xiaomi Mi5’s design. Also, there are no details available on the pricing and availability of the device.
As far as the Xiaomi Mi5 release date is concerned, the source has revealed that it will be rolled out in November. The November arrival of Xiaomi Mi5 indicates that it will enter fierce with flagship smartphones like the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, Galaxy Note 5, OnePlus 2, Lumia 940, Lumia 940 XL and more. As of this writing, Xiaomi has not confirmed the purported specs of Mi5 flagship.
