Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro will be called Redmi Note 3; new teaser confirms official launch on Nov. 24
'I think you'll like it", says Xiaomi
Now it’s confirmed. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro will be officially known as the Redmi Note 3.
The company has teased the smartphone and reconfirmed the launch of the device at a “Grand Finale” event on Nov. 24. Xiaomi might also unveil its first ever smartwatch at the same event.
Xiaomi posted a teaser image on its official Weibo account. The image simply says Redmi note 3 and comes with a caption, “I think you'll like it.” The teaser, however, doesn’t display any other feature of the device.
Xiaomi has been teasing the smartphone for a while. To date, the company confirmed Redmi Note 2 Pro will sport a metal body and a fingerprint scanner at the back panel. Official teasers also substantiate previous leaks of the Redmi Note 2 Pro, dubbed the Redmi Note 3.
Specific emphasis on the launch of Redmi Note 3 also indicates Xiaomi will unveil its flagship Mi5 at a separate event. The Xiaomi Mi5 is slated to launch on Dec. 3.
The successor of Redmi Note 2 is rumoured to feature a 5.5-inch full-HD display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Recently, the smartphone was also spotted on the TENNA listing. The Redmi Note 3 will be thicker than Redmi Note 2, according to Gizmo China. The listing reveals the phone will measure 49.98 mm ×75.96 mm ×8.75 mm and weigh 165.97 g.
The device will reportedly be powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6795 Helio X10 with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of inbuilt storage. There might be another variant of the device with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB native storage memory configuration.
The smartphone carries a large 4,000 mAh battery, reports GSM Arena. This is a huge upgrade from its predecessor that houses a 3060 mAh battery to juice up the phone.
A 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera will adorn the smartphone. The teaser image posted by Xiaomi also confirmed a dual-tone LED flash at the back. Running on Android 5.0 Lollipop , the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 could be priced between CNY 999 (AU$217 or US$156) and CNY 1099 (AU$238 or US$172).
