Zayn Malik Leaves Concert Mid-Gig, Sparks Concerns Among One Direction Fans
Zayn Malik had One Direction's fans in frenzy when he quit a performance in the middle of the band’s gig in Australia. Zayn disappeared off-stage three songs before the set was completed.
Daily Star UK reports that 1D made their Australian fans’ wishes came true when they brought their “On the Road Again” tour to Perth, Australia. However, fans also became worried when Zayn became too sick to finish the whole concert. Zayn suddenly disappeared off-stage even though there were three more songs to complete.
Niall Horan immediately informed the fans that Zayn was feeling too unwell to complete the whole set. The remaining members, however, managed to take on Zayn’s solo parts and harmonies for the last three songs. Liam took over the lines supposedly Zayn’s on the song “Girl Almighty,” and Louis sang Zayn’s lines on the song’s “Story of My Life.” Many of the band’s fans took to Twitter to express their concern and well wishes. The hash tag #GetWellSoonZayn trended after the news broke out. Some tweeted that they cried out of anxiety. Others sweetly shared that they would be praying for him.
A representative of the band explained that it was necessary for Zayn to leave because he was taken ill during the show. The representative reassures that the illness was nothing serious. He also asserted that Zayn tried his best to complete the set. "He wasn't feeling that great beforehand but he tried to get through the performance as well as he could. Everyone is hoping he’ll be well enough for their next gig,” the representative said. Some fans feel that this just went to show how Zayn loves his band and that there is no truth to the rumours that he is planning to get a solo career.
This particularly eventful Friday concert marked the end of the Australia leg of the band’s “On The Road Again” tour. Immediately after the concert, the band had to fly out of Australia to Japan where they are slated to play live again next week. It remains unclear if Zayn flew with bandmates Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Niall Horan to Japan or if he chose to remain in Australia first until he feels better.
