Gamers are used to spending large amounts on rare, one-of-a-kind collector’s editions and highly sought after gaming goods. It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that the Japan-only “Metal Gear Solid V” Premium Package costs a pretty penny, as the package comes with an impressive 1:1 scale replica of Snake’s bionic arm. Publisher Konami has released a new video showing the arm off in detail.

The video, posted on the official Konami Japan YouTube channel shows the marquee item off from all angles, lingering on its exquisite detail. Scratches, divots and screws are on display and the arm is seen grasping a PlayStation DualShock 4 controller as well as a replica of Snake’s in-game iDROID device, showing off its extensive range of articulation.

As noted by DualShockers, the arm comes in at half a metre long and weighs in at 850 grams. The premium package itself costs $250 and also includes an artbook, field map, bonus Blu-Ray, DLC and a special cover for the game itself.

As previously reported, “MGS5” fans in Japan will also be able to purchase a special limited edition “MGS5”-themed PS4. The console is painted red, with a slate underbelly and a gold band across the centre to mimic the look of Snake’s bionic arm.

In a Tokyo Game Show interview with Gamespot, Game Director and series creator Hideo Kojima confirmed that Snake’s prosthetic limbs could be replaced and upgraded. Gamers can do this by first performing research at Mother Base, Snake’s in-game headquarters. Kojima stated that players could gather resources like diamonds in the field and earn money by completing side-missions, which would affect the R&D options available at Mother Base.

“Bionic arms for snake are just one example of the items your R&D team can develop, and there are many varieties to unlock. Each variety has its own unique features that you can take advantage of to complete missions,” he said.

Konami recently announced a global release date for “MGS5” on Sept 1 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4. PC gamers will have to wait an additional two weeks, till Sept 15 before they can get their hands on Kojima’s magnum opus.
