One of Gru’s Minions in the “Despicable Me” films recently escaped and caused trouble in Dublin, Ireland. The strong winds reportedly blew a 40-foot inflatable Minion and the giant cartoon character blocked the road for the motorists for some time in the Santry area of north Dublin.

A female witness named Rachel shared on Twitter a photo of the inflatable Minion before it blocked the Old Swords Road, according to a report from Mashable. The incident took place on Sunday, Aug.2, at about 3 p.m. BST.

Witness Erin Van Londen recounted to The Journal that she just saw the Minion come loose and fly across the road while they were driving. “We got quite a shock. I actually rang the gardaí. It was quite an odd thing to have to report,” Van Londen said in The Journal report.

The witness further shared that the authorities came to solve the traffic problem and they decided to deflate the giant Minion on the road. A wheelbarrow was used to finally get the Minion out of the motorists’ way. Click here to see photos from the incident.

Another unnamed witness recounted to The Journal that the Minion damaged the wing mirror of one driver. Even though no one got injured from the incident, local councilor Paul McAuliffe cautioned that the inflatable Minion could have had serious consequences so he asked the Dublin City Council’s planning enforcement department to conduct an investigation on the incident.

McAuliffe wants to find out if the inflatable Minion was the subject of any planning regulation and if correct health and safety measures were carried out. The councillor explained that fairground events and festivals are essential in bringing footfall to the city villages.

However, McAuliffe pointed out that even the smallest events must have health and safety conditions. “I have asked the Council to provide me with a report on the incident and for the operators of the fairground to be interviewed by council officials,” Cllr McAuliffe stated in The Journal report.
