Acer announced a bagful of new products on the very first day of the international Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Among many, the 24-inch Chromebase, a refreshed Chromebook 11 and an 8-inch Iconia One 8 are worth mentioning.

Chromebase 24

The new Chromebase featuring a large 23.8-inch full HD IPS display is the first all-in-one Chrome based desktop which is powered by Intel’s Core processors. Intel is yet to confirm the specific processors and RAM. But it will surely be more powerful and faster than its predecessor.

The company claims that the Intel Core processors with Chrome OS will deliver commendable performance in graphics; ensure smoother video conferencing and multi-tasking.

Chromebook 11

Acer boasts that the new model of its Chromebook 11 lineup is simple and is ideal for sharing by multiple users . There are several models of the Chromebook 11 offering either 16GB or 32GB storage paired with 2GB or 4GB of RAM respectively. The 11.6-inch device comes with a 1366 x 768 non-glare ComfyView display and touts 9 hours of battery life.

“Acer’s position in the Chromebook market is unparalleled because we offer the range of Chromebook products that our customers want – including larger 15-inch displays and convertible models,” said Jerry Kao, president of Acer Notebook Business Group.

From February, it will be available in North America in February with prices starting at US$179.99 (AU$250). However, the company confirmed that the specs and prices may vary by region.

Iconia One 8

Acer also announced a new pocket-friendly Android device named Iconia One 8. The tablet features 8-inch 720p display running on Android 5.1 Lollipop. Powered by a quad-core MediaTek processor, the device sports 1GB RAM and 16GB storage with an option to expand it up to 128 GB via microSD.

The device ships with a child friendly user interface Kids Center and pre screened content like books, games and videos suitable for kids, confirmed Acer in a press note. Prices start at US$99.99 (AU$138).
