Several days ago, T-Mobile released an Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for their Galaxy S2 and now AT&T, one of the biggest network carriers in the United States, is having live update online for the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket and finally releases its Jelly Bean upgrade.

Samsung Galaxy S2 came out with Android 2.3 Gingerbread and received Android 4.0 in 2012. And now, owners with Galaxy S2 Skyrocket can enjoy the Jelly Bean goodness from AT&T's latest firmware update.

Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy S2 Skyrocket has a firmware version of I727UCMC1 and the reported to be available via Samsung Kies PC suite. Owners can also check Over-the-Air update by going to the device's Settings > About Phone > Software Update > Check for updates.

If you want to get ahead from AT&T and could take some risk installing ROM to your Galaxy S2 Skyrocket, Cyanogenmod 10.1 can instead bring your phone to Android 4.2.1.

CM10.1 with Android 4.2.1 will bring several new additions to your devices on top of the 4.1.2 version such as Daydream, expandable and actionable notifications, photo sphere camera, smarter keyboard with gesture typing, new Google Search, and ultra-smooth feeling.

Prerequisites:

1. Download the CyanogenMod 10.1 for Galaxy S2 Skyrocket and the Google Apps.

2. The device must have at 75 per cent of battery level to avoid power interruption.

3. Enable the "USB Debugging" on your phone.

4. Create a backup of all personal information and data files on your device.

5. Install a Custom Recovery app such as ClockworkMod or TWRP on your phone to flash the Cyanogenmod 10.1.

Instructions:

1. Connect the phone to the computer using a USB cable and copy the downloaded files inside the root directory of the SD card.

2. Disconnect the device and reboot it into Clockworkmod recovery. Press and hold Volume up + Volume down + Power keys.

3. As an option, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM which can be restored anytime in case of failure. Select "backup and restore" option and choose "backup."

4. After a backup has been made, select "wipe data/factory reset" then "wipe cache partition" on your device, be reminded that these process will delete everything inside the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket.

5. Select "install zip from sdcard" and then select "choose zip from sdcard." Select the Cyanogenmod 10.1 ROM you've downloaded early and confirm by clicking "Yes." Do this with the Google Apps as well.

6. Select "reboot system now" to restart the phone after the installation.

Congratulations! Now your Galaxy S2 Skyrocket runs Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean firmware.
