Michael Douglas recently sat down for an interview where he recalled the preparations he made for his role as Hank Pym in “Ant-Man.” The actor also revealed what fans should expect to see from the movie.

Michael Douglas was asked by Collider whether he had to read up on the comics to learn more about his character in “Ant-Man.” The actor admitted not being a “comic book guy” and revealed that he was instead given some materials to help him brush up his knowledge on Hank Pym. “They sent me stuff, so I became aware of how crucial Hank Pym was to Ant-Man, and how important Ant-Man was to The Avengers,” he said.

The actor further compared Hank Pym with that of Paul Rudd’s role in the film, the latter playing the titular character. In terms of improvisation, Douglas revealed that Paul Rudd was given more freedom with the portrayal of his character. Whereas the actor said Hank Pym’s character deals “much more with the information in the picture and the facts.”

Filming for “Ant-Man” wrapped up back in December and fans have already been provided their first look at the official trailer. The latter reportedly showed a promising humorous story also evolving in the film. When asked whether humour would be one of the elements fans would see in the movie, Michael Douglas replied with a comparison of “Ant-Man” to “Guardians of the Galaxy.”

Although the actor admitted not seeing the full movie yet, he revealed that “Ant-Man” would be a lot of fun to watch. Michael Douglas said the film is “much more like ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ with the humor.” It’s just funny, against all of this grandiose stuff, that there’s Ant-Man,” he added.

Marvel’s “Ant-Man” tells the story of con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) who eventually becomes a “small-size” hero with great strength after being introduced to the Ant-Man suit. Along with his mentor, Hank Pym, the pair devises a plan to pull off a heist that will essentially also save the world.

“Ant-Man” opens in U.S. theatres on July 17, 2015 under the direction of Peyton Reed. Michael Douglas and Paul Rudd is joined by other casts including Evangeline Lily, who plays Hank Pym’s daughter Hope Van Dyne, and Corey Stoll as the villain Yellowjacket .
