Apple 5.7-Inch Phablet iPhone vs. the Samsung Galaxy Note 3
Apple could launch a phablet-sized, 5.7 inches, iPhone to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
The war between the two tech giants is nothing close to over as Apple is set to intensify the cut-throat competition in 2014 with the release of a larger iPhone. Reports say that Apple is set to hit back Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with a phablet-sized 5.7-inch iPhone.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is a 5.7 inches phablet with 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, Super AMOLED with full HD resolution display, a sensor camera, 3 GB RAM, 3,200 mAh battery, S Pen and soon to be upgraded to the latest Android 4.4 KitKat OS.
The specs and features of the phablet-sized iPhone are yet to be revealed, but it is rumoured to have an A7 processor and expected to be released sometime in May, which is ahead of the iPhone 6 launch date.
Although the iPhone 5s features an impressive Retina display, it is not quite good enough to take on the full HD display of the Note 3. Reports say that Apple is currently working on a powerful display that could be one the best displays when launched.
A new patent application by Apple indicates that it is working on an advanced display technology, which is based on quantum dot-enhanced displays, according to Apple Insider. Basically, quantum dots are nanocrystals made from semi-conductor materials that exhibit quantum mechanical attributes. Thus far, it is still unclear if this new technology will be ready for the May launch or if the market will have to see the same Retina display on the next iPhone.
With the bigger display of the iPhone, Apple is expected to boost the battery life of its device; otherwise, users will be pushed to go hunting for a batter pack. Earlier this week, Mophie unveiled the Space Pack that adds battery backup and additional 32 GB of memory to the iPhone 5 and 5S. Apple needs to step up as other companies offer smartphones with unbelievable battery life like the Huawei Ascend Mate 2, which can last up to 60 hours.
