Apple launches iPad Pro at iPhone annual event
Apple introduced the iPad Pro, a bigger, more powerful tablet with a high-resolution 12.9-inch display, on Sept.9 at the annual Apple Event. The iPad Pro comes with advanced capabilities. It can show multiple apps in split screen, and it has a peripheral keyboard and ‘Force Touch-based stylus.’
The iPad Pro has a 12.9-inch Retina display, with 5.6 million pixels and refined Multi-Touch technology. It is considered to be the most advanced and highest resolution display ever in an iOS device. A new four-speaker audio design provides a powerful, clear sound; while a refined unibody enclosure of anodised aluminum gives iPad Pro a classy feel with a thin and light design that is easy to hold. The iPad Pro delivers greater contrast, more uniform brightness and improved energy efficiency through photo alignment technology, oxide TFT and variable refresh rate.
The iSight rear camera can deliver 12MP images. This means a 50 per cent increase from the 8MP snapper on the iPhone 6 and 4K video. Inside, there's the new A9 chip powering it all, making it 70 per cent faster at CPU tasks than the A8.
Along with good voice search features, Apple is packing a new and greatly enhanced physical remote with the latest Apple TV. The remote has a touch surface for easier navigation through the device's user interface, which is similar to the previous menu system. Now, it is featured to be more in line with modern iOS devices.
The new software is said to be known as tvOS. As one watches shows and movies, Siri can also provide current weather conditions or keep updated on sports scores. The fourth-generation Apple TV combines integrated Siri, a motion-sensing Wii-like remote control and a brand new tvOS for a complete experience overhaul.
The fourth generation Apple TV could feature a touch-pad remote with extra inbuilt storage. Prices start at AU$ 213 for the 32GB version and AU$ 284 for the 64GB. The Apple TV will be released sometime in the last quarter of the year, according to reports.
The new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus prices start at AU$ 770 for 16GB and AU$ 886, respectively. Pre-order starts Sept. 12. iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are expected to arrive in stores on Sept. 25.
