Apple TV feature hints possible move to motion controlled gaming
Apple has introduced many innovations to some gadgets over the course of its long run as a tech giant. It has touched many pieces of technology starting from its humble beginnings as a computer to its latest step forward with the Apple Watch. Now, new reports show that Apple is set to release a TV set which is rumored to be Apple’s first step towards local social gaming.
TechCrunch’s Matthew Panzarino revealed new details about the Apple TV’s remote control. According to him, the remote control is set to have motion sensors that allow it to function similarly to one of the pioneer’s in motion controlled gaming, the Wii nunchuk. Basically, the remote of the Apple TV could bring forth a new era of gaming for Apple. It could also potentially provide a new twist for some games available for the iOS currently.
Panzarino states that "The possibilities, of course, are immediately evident," to which he added "A game controller with a microphone, physical buttons, a touchpad and motion sensitive controls would be extremely capable."
Techtimes reports that Apple TV could put focus on developing first-party titles, similar with Nintendo. Upon the release of the Wii, Nintendo shipped with it “Wii Sports” and “Wii Play,” which allowed players to fully experience the capabilities of the console through short but fun games.
Apple’s efforts to enter the gaming fray are still behind one of its main competitors, Microsoft. As when it comes to PC gaming, Macs are capable of running some high-end games but of course the computer is still limited to certain graphic settings. Unlike PCs, Macs cannot be customized to keep up to par with the latest games so not every AAA title can be played on the computer. Apple fans could probably expect a more active Apple when it comes to gaming in the following years.
