Apple's iPad Sales Continue To Reduce: iPhones Doing Very Well
Apple’s iPad sales continue to drop as revealed in the company’s third quarterly results. The California tech giant released its Q3 earning for 2015 which showed that Apple came across with a profit of $10.7 billion and $49.6 billion in revenue. This result reflects a considerable improvement from the earning of $7.7 billion in profit and $37.4 billion in revenue in the third quarter of 2014.
The iPads continues to shrink whereas iPhones galore
In a nutshell the results confirm two facts – Apple earns most of its profits from the iPhones and the sales of iPad continue to drop. Sales of iPhones contributed $31.4 billion, 63.25 percent of the company’s total revenue for the quarter. The iPad sales continue to shrink by 18 percent year-over-year. Apple sold 10.93 million iPads in June quarter of 2015, down 17.7 percent from the 13.28 million it sold last year. That reflects to about $4.5 billion in revenue, down 23 percent from the same quarter of last year, reports Business Insider. Further, as a portion of Apple’s overall revenue, iPad sales accounted for only 9.1 percent this quarter, a huge decline from Q3 of last year when it recorded 15.7 percent of the total. Apple sold 4.8 million units of iMac in this quarter which is about 8.84 percent more than the last year. The iMac contributes 12.16 percent ($6.03 billion) of the total revenue of the company, reports ARS Technica. According to The Salt Lake Tribune, the growth of the Mac sales resulted from the new versions of MacBook laptops.
Apple’s biggest region is still the Americas and it illustrated strong growth from last year. However, China remains Apple’s fastest-growing market which has encountered a growth by 122.73% as compared to Q3 of 2014 followed by Asia Pacific, reports ARS Technica. According to The Salt Lake Tribune, the June quarter has always been slower for Apple because users wait for the new releases in fall. Apple sold more than 47.5 million iPhones during the three months ending in June, which is down from a peak of 74.5 million units sold during the three months that ended in December 2014. As reported by ABC News, Apple seems to be confident that the next software update will make iPads more powerful enabling users to run two apps simultaneously in split-screen.
