AT&T rolls out Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to Galaxy Tab 4 8.0
AT&T is now rolling out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0. This particular carrier decided to begin the rollout only a couple of days after Verizon Wireless distributed an update to the same device.
The rollout of the on-the-air firmware for AT&T's Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 was first confirmed by the carrier on its support page. The update will also bring a variety of changes that will improve the tablet's features, according to the announcement.
Considering updates are typically rolled out in a gradual manner, it may take a while for other Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 tablets to get the update prompt. Still, AT&T assures it is well on its way and will be hitting the units soon, according to Tech Times.
The update will take 867 MB from the tablet's internal storage. As always, Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 users planning to download the update should make sure that their Wi-Fi connection is stable and very reliable so the installation process will run smoothly and won’t be interrupted.
Apart from that, it’s also recommended that the device is charged at least 50 percent. Running out of battery while the process is ongoing might cause some problems within the device.
With the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, Galaxy Tab 4 8.0, users get more access to much better Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections. The unit's Quick Settings tab has been updated, in addition to more animations, improved notifications and a new screen-pinning feature. The device is also made more secure and stable with improved security software and much better memory management.
The update also introduces AT&T Messages, AT&T Messages VPL and New YP VPL. However, it removed some previously installed apps such as Famigo, Beats Music and WatchOn.
