For both the current-gen PS3 and Xbox 360 and next-gen PS4 and Xbox One consoles, there are two first-person shooter games that have had a very loyal following since the beginning: Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Now that both are nearing the released date of their respective copies, here are some of the new announcements, information, and news on the two games.

500 copies of Call of Duty: Ghosts as giveaways

The EB Games Expo Sydney 2013, happening at the Sydney Olympic Park, will be bringing a load of games from October 4 to 6. But one notable fact is that you can expect 500 copies of Call of Duty: Ghosts to be given away for free.

What's more, Gaming Bolt reports that this isn't just the standard edition, but the Prestige Edition. "Once fans have played Call of Duty: Ghosts, they will be able to scan a QR code as they exit the booth to see if they have won. A lucky 100 fans at each session could be winners."

So if you are lucky enough to be in Sydney during the time of the EB Games Expo, head over to the official website to see how you can apply, and you may be the one to receive a copy of Call of Duty: Ghosts earlier than the official current-gen PS3, Xbox 360, and PC release date of November 5, PS4 on November 15, and the Xbox One on November 22.

Preorder bonus offered by Amazon for COD: Ghosts

There is still a number of days before the release date of Call of Duty: Ghosts, but even if you haven't placed your preorder yet, Amazon still has a ton of freebies that come with the game.

The Amazon Pre-order Pack include a bonus digital Federation Patch in-game item for all of the console versions. There is also the Free Fall Dynamic bonus map and access to Double XP Launch Weekend.

Lastly, there will also be two Amazon exclusive Call of Duty: Ghosts digital wallpapers for both the phone and PC, which will be emailed along with the code to unlock the Digital Federation Patch once you have placed your preorder.

Battlefield 4: Beta starts next month

The other first-shooter person game that is currently in high rivalry with Call of Duty: Ghosts is Battlefield 4.

And as the release date of November 1 draws closer, EA has finally announced the launch date for the open beta for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. According to Videogamer, the open beta starts October 1, and will give players a chance to try out the Siege of Shanghai before anyone else.

There is a separate launch for those who have preordered the Origin Digital Exclusive edition of the game, though the start of that exclusive has not yet been revealed.

Guide to vehicles in the battlefield

Two key points to take away from this is how to recover from critical hit. DICE has changed the principal of what you would do once your vehicle receives a critical hit. If, back then, you had no other choice but to abandon a vehicle that has received far too much damage, with Battlefield 4, you only need to wait for a few seconds before you can recover the vehicle.

This new change was based on some demographic study of the fans, as well as their reactions to the previous Battlefield 3. This way, you can easily get back in the battle without the creators taking the realistic feel of what it is like to have your battle vehicle take some damage.

Unique air combat roles were also discussed in the latest blog from Battlefield 4. The developers have upgraded the experience, updating Fighter Jet class to Stealth jets by introducing new vehicles into the mix. Attack Jets also have their own unlocks, which is different from the previous game wherein all the jets have the same unlocks.

Of course, water battles are not left out, as this time, the developers have also made sure that water-based fights will play out as dynamically as possible, taking into consideration the very rippling effect that the setting has.

"With Battlefield 4, we've put a lot of effort into giving Naval Combat the magnitude it deserves--and with the dynamic weather changes, fighting at sea becomes a constantly changing experience."

From patrol boats to the bigger tanks on water, you have ammo and transport at your command even in the vastness of the sea for nonstop action.
