‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’ Xbox One digital pre-orders removed from online retailers
The release of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” is slated for Nov. 6 for current and previous generations of consoles. Pre-orders for the game were made available a couple of weeks ago, but new reports state that the digital version for one console was pulled by two online retailers.
All pre-orders for the digital version of Xbox One’s “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” were taken down by Amazon and the Xbox Games Store today. Even the game’s season pass for the Xbox One disappeared from the UK retailer, GAME. Both parties have yet to say when, if ever, the pre-orders will be up again.
The disappearance of the pre-orders was first spotted by ICXM earlier this week. Oddly enough, the pre-orders for the digital edition of the game for the PlayStation 4 and Windows PC are still available at online retailers such as the PlayStation Store, Amazon and Steam.
Xbox’s website lists “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” as a title purchasable only through a bundle. It also notes that the game is currently available for pre-order through local retailers.
Polygon reportedly tried to contact both Microsoft and Activision regarding the removal of the game, but neither explained why it was pulled. The good news is that the removal is only temporary, said a Microsoft representative to Polygon.
The date for the return of the game to online retailers was not specified, but Microsoft and Activision are reportedly currently doing their best to bring back the title. Meanwhile, online retailer Amazon is yet to issue a statement regarding the removal of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” from its store.
For its part, Activision explained that it wasn’t the publisher’s decision to pull the game. It also said that the title will still launch on Nov. 6 for the Xbox One despite its removal from online retail stores.
