New 'Realistic' difficulty revealed for 'Call of Duty: Black Ops 3'
It seems like “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” will be having a new difficulty mode called “Realistic.” Prior to this, previous games in the “Call of Duty” series had “Hardened” or “Veteran” as the most difficult stage, but it seems like that has changed.
The new “Realistic” mode was revealed when Exophase featured all of the game’s trophies. Describing the “Disavowed” trophy, the site stated that players will get it when they complete "Black Ops" on either “Hardened,” “Veteran” or “Realistic.” The trophy is considered Ultra Rare, so it seems like completing the game in one of these modes is going to be very difficult.
Neither Activision nor developer Treyarch has confirmed anything about the new “Realistic” mode, though the name does suggest several things about it. Since it’s “Realistic,” GameSpot speculates that it will not have any health regeneration unlike in the game’s other modes. There’s also a possibility that players will go down with one headshot or regular shot, depending on the gun that the enemy is using.
Other interesting revelations from the trophies include the return of the “Dead Ops” mini-game and the new max multiplayer level, which has now been upgraded to 55. Some of the trophies also feature possible gameplay spoilers for some of the missions in the title’s campaign mode as well as the star-studded Zombies stage, so fans should read them at their own risk.
The new difficulty setting could reportedly be very interesting and should supply a decent challenge for hardened “Call of Duty” veterans, though it should be noted that it isn’t the first game to have such type of difficulty. “Fallout: New Vegas” had a similar mode that required players to eat, drink and sleep to survive.
“Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” will be coming on Nov. 6 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC. The last-gen versions of the game will not have a campaign mode, which will be made clear in the game’s box art, though it will still have multiplayer and Zombie modes.
