‘Captain America: Civil War': Daniel Bruhl Comments On His Role, Says It’s A Challenge”
Daniel Bruhl is the latest addition to the cast of “Captain America: Civil War.” His role in the sequel remains unknown, although he’s been rumoured to play the role of Baron Zemo. The actor has also been mum about his character in the film, although he expressed his excitement on being part of the movie during an interview.
Daniel Bruhl tells The Wall Street Journal during an interview on his new films “The Face of an Angel” and “Woman in Gold,” that he is “very much looking forward” to joining “Captain America: Civil War” considering that he believes it to be “entertainment to the highest level.” “From the world I am coming from and the movies I have done, this feels big—megalomania and huge,” he says.
When asked for specific details about his role in the film, the actor declined to comment, saying he’s not “supposed to say anything” or even talk about his character in the movie. “Because I would be too afraid to give something away and then I’ll end up in the Marvel prison and I do not want that,” he explains. However, Daniel Bruhl claims his involvement in the film would be a “challenge” for him since he considers being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as something new yet fantastic.
Reports have indicated that Daniel Bruhl was cast in “Captain America: Civil War” to play supporting villain Baron Zemo. Movie Casting Call previously announced and confirmed that the actor will indeed be playing the evil character but revealed no further details on his role in the sequel. The validity of this information remains uncertain. However, according to Screenrant, the original source of information was taken from Production Weekly, a magazine that supposedly gets their information directly from Disney, so there’s said to be a good chance that Bruhl is indeed playing Baron Zemo.
In the Marvel comics, the German Baron Zemo, born Helmut Zemo, harbours hatred for Captain America. He thinks Cap destroyed his family, allowing his mother, Hilda, to turn again his father, Heinrich, who accidentally killed himself during a fight with Captain America. After his father’s death, Baron Zemo learned combat fighting and eventually attacked Cap and his partner The Falcon in the costume disguise of the Phoenix.
According to Screenrant, Daniel Bruhl playing the role of Baron Zemo in “Captain America: Civil War” is a “good fit” for the actor. A lot of fans have reportedly also been vying for the German actor to play the part ever since he was announced as cast member in the sequel back in November.
