Comic Con 2015: Jennifer Lawrence, 'Hunger Games' Bid Comic Con Goodbye For The Last Time
Jennifer Lawrence and her friends left Comic Con 2015 on a positive note as they bid goodbye for the last time. “The Hunger Games” saga will end when “Mockingjay – Part 2” hits theatres in the fall of 2015.
The Verge reports that during the movie's San Diego Comic Con 2015 panel at the Convention Center's Hall H, the mood was a bit sentimental. It's not surprising because this would be the last time that fans of the book and film franchise would be seeing Katniss Everdeen and the other members of the cast at a Comic Con event.
Conan O’Brien was on hand to moderate the panel, which consisted of Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Willow Shields, Liam Hemsworth, producer Nina Jacobson and director Francis Lawrence. Jennifer compared herself to Katniss for the nth time, clarifying that they aren't the same at all.
“Nothing about me and Katniss is similar, because she’s brave and I’m … an actress,” Lawrence said in The Verge report.
At one point, Hutcherson appeared to be captivated by the fans, so Lawrence touched his face. Instead of trying to portray the star-crossed lovers that they are in the film, Hutcherson complained that Lawrence’s fingers smelled weird. The actress blamed it on ranch dip. Meanwhile, Hemsworth was warmly welcomed by screaming fans, being the heartthrob of the franchise.
Vulture reports that the three actors featured a very funny “Mockingjay – Part 2” panel. The opening had a serious note and showed the film’s new trailer. Lawrence and Hutcherson bounced jokes off at each other’s expense and Hemsworth joined in. Lawrence kept losing her train of thought while answering questions.
She shared with her fans that she has not done interviews in about a year, which would hopefully explain her lack of clear responses. Hutcherson continued to tease her about it. As for Hemsworth, he shared that whenever he tried to do the whistling part from the film, it sounded more like the theme song from “The X-Files.”
Lawrence talked about her favourite Katniss moment. She said that the arrow-in-the-sky part in “Catching Fire” was not as climactic as people believed. She stumbled again, looking for an answer, until Shields helped by suggesting the “I volunteer as tribute” part. The "Mockingjay – Part 2” star agreed that it was a great suggestion and thanked Shields for it. Jennifer concluded in “The Hunger Games” fashion by delivering an insightful message.
“The power of the future is with you and in your hands,” Lawrence said in the Vulture report.
The fans cheered as she rose from her seat at the panel and put down her mike after her parting words. It was an interesting and memorable way to bid her fans goodbye. Katniss Everdeen would be proud.
