'Destiny' news: Bungie advises players to wait for update before playing 'Nightfall' missions
Though initial reaction to “Destiny: The Taken King” was positive, players around the world complained about the new Nightfall rewards and the lack of better prizes. Bungie recently heeded the complaints and released a quick hot fix patch that will add better rewards to the Nightfall missions.
The announcement was made on the Bungie Twitter page, where players were actually advised to not play the Nightfall missions until the patch arrived. Very rarely would any developer tell its audience not to play their game, but it seems like the people within the company are aware of how bad the rewards were.
Prior to the release of the “Taken King” expansion pack, drops from enemies were random, but players always received a reputation buff for each item received. The expansion not only removed the reputation buff, but the rewards given to players for completing missions felt very underwhelming.
Notable prizes that irked “Destiny” players include the consumable Strange Coins and the oddly named Three of Coin item. These prizes were so disappointing that GameSpot stated that it “felt like losing,” despite the fact that players would successfully complete the Nightfall missions.
However, everything changes with the release of the hotfix patch, which is now available for all versions of “Destiny.” Bungie promised better rewards for the completion of Nightfall missions once the patch hits, but the developers have yet to describe what those prizes will be.
Perhaps the fix simply reinstated the older system and brought back random drops. It’s also possible that the random drops will give players a reputation buff. However, nothing else has ben confirmed about the update, except for the fact that players should wait for it before playing Nightfall missions.
“Destiny” was one of the most-hyped games mostly because “Halo” developer, Bungie, made the title. While the game sold well, many complained about the lack of story and its focus on future content.
“The Taken King” has seemingly changed that, with most fans and critics reacting positively to the expansion pack. The fact that some versions of the title came bundled with the original game along with its first few expansions was also a good thing.
Fans can purchase the "Destiny" and "The Taken King" expansion right now on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
