‘The Division’ dev focuses on gameplay improvement over DLC development
“The Division” players have to wait a while to get their hands on any new content for the game. Ubisoft has announced a delay for its two upcoming expansions so the team can focus on the lingering issues that that have accumulated since the game was released in March.
“With Update 1.4 in the works, it has become clear with your feedback and our own observations that our priority should now be on improving the core gameplay experience. For this reason, we have made several adjustments to our development schedule,” said Ubisoft over the official blog.
Because of this re-evaluation, Ubisoft is now looking to release update 1.4 in October apart from Survival. The update will be dedicated to bug fixing, game balancing and more improvements for “The Division.”
Survival, the second expansion for the game, is currently undated, but is said to release later this year. Last Stand will now be launched in early 2017. According to Ubisoft, this trend was set in place to ensure that the base game will be completely fixed in the meantime before delivering new content. At the same time, it gives the developer some leeway time to ensure that the next updates will not be met with the same bug-plagued experienced.
For “The Division” update 1.4, fans can expect the following fixes and balances:
- Fixing bugs, including those listed in our Known Issues as well as many other ones
- Making loot drops more relevant to the player
- Enemy difficulty and time to kill
- Gear Sets and weapons balancing
- Solo player experience
- Dark Zone and PvP balancing
- Quality of life additions based on community suggestions (such as weapon skins no longer taking inventory space)
Ubisoft will still deliver some updates, particularly details of the progress with the update in a Special Live Report livestream happening on Sept. 13.
“The Division” is available on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The expansions are available via the US$39.99 (approx. AU$52) season pass. The first DLC, Underground, was released in July.
