DLC News, A Look Into Injustice: Gods Among Us Fighters; DC Universe Sons of Trigon DLC Revealed; Shadowrun Returns DLC in October
Ever since the game was first released, Injustice: Gods Among Us has had an unbelievable following, even more so with the fast release of compatibility packs, free skins, Season Pass DLC characters, and now the trickling in of non-DLC but still kickass add-ons.
Yet just how long will these DLC characters and teasers come? And is there something more to look forward to from the guys at NetherRealm Studios?
DLCentral got down with the developers' Adam Urbano, senior producer of the game, and got some details on how the DLC characters work pre- and post-production, as well as what will happen next.
The interview revealed that fans' opinions have just as much gravity during the creation of the DLC, as Urbano revealed that the lack of a second Season Pass is so that the studio can create content without having to limit it as a Season Pass freebie, citing the DLC S.T.A.R. Labs missions as an example of having had to go through discussions for it to be included in the DLC.
"We want to stay flexible so we can respond to fan request like these going forward rather than pre-committing to a specific set of DLC."
What this can also mean is that, given the weight the studio gives its fans' requests and likes, the unofficial poll that was created before by NetherRealm Studios head Ed Boon may not have been in vain--a potentially glorious fact for Zatanna and Red Hood fans.
When it comes to the studio's next plans, it seems that there's more for the studio than just INJUSTICE.
"We obviously have a great deal of passion for Injustice: Gods Among Us, and we'd like to keep making content for it forever," said Urbano to DLCentral. "But we're also working on a bunch of really, really exciting new projects, and so we have to constantly evaluate where specific people on the team are needed."
Urbano remained mum when asked just when the DLCs will keep coming in. As for what can be expected in upcoming DLCs, the next piece has not been confirmed, although fans are divided between the rumoured names like Power Girl, to the favorites like Zatanna and Red Hood.
But just recently the official INJUSTICE Twitter has announced that it may just release the next DLC as early as this week. "So it looks like INJUSTICE fans are forcing us to announce the next DLC this week after all! Damn!" according to the latest Twitter post.
This was the result of an earlier tweet asking fans to vote for the game at The Fall Classic 2013 Bonus Prize Poll, and topping the rest of the games with over 1,250 votes from fans.
Other games lines up in the poll include Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Persona 4 Arena, King of Fighters XXIII, Street Fighter X Tekken Ver. 2013, Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, and Soulcalibur V. Better stay tuned for more details on INJUSTICE.
Gotham turns devilish in DC Universe Online DLC
Playing against the seven deadly sins in a Gotham that's made even darker seems to be the main drive behind the Sons of Trigon, the latest DLC for DC Universe Online.
MTV reports that the DLC features the sons of Trigon, which embody specific deadly sin and own a turf in Gotham that has been turned and themed in line with the sin--for instance, Amusement Mile has been touched with lust, while the Gotham Knights football stadium tainted with envy--but you only need to defeat three sons before going against the final boss, Trigon himself.
Aside from the sinfully delightful setting and themes of the DLC, MTV adds that those who have been frustrated by a cliffhanger in the game would be happy to know that this DLC will contain the resolution.
According to the report, the developers are looking at a fall release date, though specifics have not yet been revealed.
Shadowrun Returns DLC slated later this year
If you haven't had enough of the cyberpunk game Shadowrun Returns, which is a brainchild of Harebrained Schemes, the developers are bringing more to the game with the release of its Berlin DLC.
Aside from the DLC, Joystiq reports that the game will is also slated for localisation in four versions, namely French, German, Spanish, and Italian, with the release dates for these versions also pegged for October, around the same time that the DLC will be made available.
Those who prefer to play the game using their iOS devices will still have to wait, as it had been delayed with Apple's certification process, but the developers have assured users that the RPG mobile game will be ready in the coming weeks.
