EA announces release date for ‘Star Wars Battlefront’ beta run
Eager fans no longer have to wait for too long to sample the upcoming “Star Wars Battlefront.” Instead of a two-month wait, players can experience some of the upcoming space battles before the November launch, thanks to the newly announced and dated beta run.
Publisher Electronic Arts has finally announced via the official “Star Wars Battlefront” website a concrete release date for the beta, which will begin on Oct. 8. All fans need to do is sign up for the beta to gain access to it on the launch date. The beta will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, but it will only run till Oct. 12. As EA has previously made clear before, any progress made in the beta will not carry-over to the full game.
The publisher stated that there will be three available game modes for the beta. These game modes include Walker Assault, Drop Zone and Survival Mission. The Walker Assault set in the snowy lands of Hoth is probably the most massive game mode for the title. It will let 40-players battle it out on foot or on the gigantic AT-ATs.
Survival Mission, on the other hand, is a game mode that lets players hold out for as long as they can while battling waves of Imperial forces including AT-ST’s, TIE fighters, elite stormtroopers and more. This mode can be played solo or in co-op mode.
Lastly, Drop Zone is the latest game mode announced by Electronic Arts. It is an 8v8 battle, which is similar to the classic Control Point mode from other shooters. During the battle, escape pods will drop down and the teams will have to take control of as many pods as the can.
Aside from the upcoming beta, players will also have a chance to experience the Battlefront “Companion” experience over at the game’s website. The feature will give players access to a card game called Base Command. The card game will let players earn in-game currency which they can use to unlock weapons in the full “Star Wars Battlefront” game.
The full version of “Star Wars Battlefront” launches on Nov. 17, almost a month before the release of “Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.” Gamespot reports that the game will receive a movie tie-in DLC for the game. The upcoming DLC will let players wage battles on the desert of Jakku.
