'Five Nights At Freddy’s' creator Scott Cawthon announces 'FNAF World'
“Five Nights At Freddy’s” creator Scott Cawthon recently announced that the series will be getting an overhaul in the next title.
The “Five Nights At Freddy’s” series has been one of the most popular horror titles recently. The game has spawned a total of four games, with the formulaic horror experience of jump scares. After the first two titles, the series has begun to lose its spark. A new gaming experience could be what the developer needs to regain the game’s popularity.
In a post on the Steam page of “Five Nights At Freddy’s,” Cawthon announced that the next title in the series will be a role-playing game called “FNAF World.” Cawthon says that “FNAF World” will put players in the shoes of characters from the series, forming parties from them.
"It's very important for me to say again that there will NOT be a Five Nights at 'Freddy's 5'; the story is complete, and the Halloween update and new game will not add to it," Cawthon said.
Cawthon added that he aims on doing more with the characters of “Five Nights At Freddy’s,” saying they were characters that were dear to his heart. At the release of “Five Nights At Freddy’s 4,” Cawthon assured fans that there will not be a “Five Nights At Freddy’s 5,” but he did not say that the series is completely finished.
The announcement of the new title also brought some bad news. Cawthon said that the chances of a demo hitting this Halloween is very slim. With the game in development having a wider scope, the demo will reportedly take more time to develop than the other titles.
Cawthon promised though that a free demo for “FNAF World” will become available eventually, but no time frame was given. The game will be released on the PC, Android and iOS.
More things are in store for the series and more titles may come in the future as spinoffs or completely different games, as Cawthon had expressed his love for the series’ characters. Aside from “FNAF World,” the game will also see a film adaptation produced by Warner Bros., Hollywood Reporter reports.
