Google Nexus 2015 Phone Specs & Features Likely Revealed By Leaked LG G4, G4 Note Details
The likelihood that Google’s Nexus 2015 smartphone will be patterned after the LG G4 or LG G4 Note is gaining sufficient traction. Essentially, the two upcoming LG flagships are providing hints on the specs and features that will be packed with the sequel for the next vanilla Android phone.
As rumours surfaced that the Nexus branding will return to the LG fold this year, speculations were sparked that the Google signature phone will be moulded after the 2015 flagship coming from the South Korean device vendor. Considering the reports that LG plans to unpack two hero phones – the G4 and the G4 Note – leaked details on the devices give a glimpse of what the next Nexus phone would be.
5.7-inch profile
Nowhereelse.fr, a blog site that specialises in gadget leaks, claimed in a report that the maximum screen size for any of the G4 or G4 Note is 5.7-inch, which also suggested that in replacing the Nexus 6 Google plans another phablet flagship. This report is in line with the current smartphone standard of stretched display panel. And the next Nexus, if based on any of the two LG phones, promises to slug it out with the best of the giant phones out there – possibly against the iPhone 6S Plus and Galaxy Note 5, from Apple and Samsung respectively.
Curved touch panel
That same giant panel will also sport a curved touch panel as flexible glass screen is touted to start appearing on high-end device. Samsung introduced the material commercially with the Galaxy Note Edge last year and further beautify its rendition via the Galaxy S6 Edge. Not surprisingly, Google and LG would want to spice up the 2015 Nexus with bendable panel implementation such as a wraparound flavour.
Metal or plastic
Local reports from South Korean have indicated that LG will wrap its banner smartphones in premium metal but that would take effect in the second half of 2015, pointing to the G4 Note as the initial beneficiary of the material shift. The regular G4, as it turned out, is practically set for rollout so it stays plastic. If the Nexus this year is the repurposed G4, Android fans will get it plastic housing but if the G4 Note is the base-model then they’ll have a metallic device to toy with.
Starts with 3GB RAM
Upscale Android devices started breaching the 2GB RAM provision mark last year and many reached a high of 3GB, which is what any of the G4 and G4 Note will bring to the table this 2015. As Android Lollipop is the first Google operating system to support 64-bit computing so is its successor is expected to reflect the same feature. That would mean 3GB and up will be a regular RAM configuration for this year’s Nexus smartphone.
Killer camera
Google has always boasted that part of the DNA of its Nexus devices is a killer camera. If any of the LG G4 and G4 Note indicates, then the Nexus 6 replacement will have insane camera features that will be headlined by a rear sensor with 16-megapixel lens.
Nexus phablet with a stylus?
Will the next Nexus give the Galaxy Note an interesting fight by wielding a stylus once it’s out of the box this year? It is highly likely if the device is designed after the G4 Note. As pointed out by Forbes, LG already trademarked the G Pen stylus – sign that the company intends to release a device with native stylus support.
The most solid candidate to come to mind on that is the G4 Note. And the doors are wide open for the G4 Note to re-appear later this year as the repurposed Nexus 2015 smartphone. Release date of the device is likely during the holiday quarter.
