‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Star Breaks Her Silence On Patrick Dempsey’s McDreamy’s Untimely Death
“Grey’s Anatomy” lead star Ellen Pompeo finally breaks her silence after the untimely death of her TV husband Patric Dempsey, Derek Shepard. Reaching out for the show’s angry fans who wants to see the Derek-Meredith tandem, the actress took Twitter on Monday, April 27, to address Dempsey’s shocking departure from the ABC series.
The Golden Globe Best Actress admitted that she is honoured and excited to tell the story of Meredith as she goes to another phase of her life without Derek. Just like many people who are suffering tremendous loss and tragedy, Meredith will be in another journey where fans can see how a wife can get each day thinking that she will never to see the love of her life.
"I have always said what keeps me going is the fans,” Pompeo wrote on her Twitter post. "There are so many people out there who have suffered tremendous loss and tragedy. So it is for these people and in the spirit of resilience I am honoured And excited to tell the story of how Meredith goes on in the face of what feels like the impossible.”
Derek’s death marked the end of an era for the show but with sad ending comes with sweet beginning for the rest of the cast. The actress' lengthy tweet was prompted by the millions of fans who vowed not to watch the show after hearing Dempsey’s exit, and event launched a petition to bring the doctor back and collected more than 29,000 signatures.
Series creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes issued a statement that the actor will remain an important character in Meredith’s life and for her. Although she never imagined to say goodbye to the show’s ultimate “McDreamy,” Rhimes assured the fans that Derek Shepard’s death will be felt by all as the entire “Grey’s Anatomy” family enters a new chapter of their lives.
The actor also addressed his mournful fans on Friday, April 24, through his Twiiter account as he thanked all his fans for supporting him and the show for an “incredible 11 years.” Dempsey’s Dr. Drerek Shepard died in a fatal car wreck after saving four lives following a car crash.
