‘Halo 5: Guardians’: Microsoft details digital-to-physical disc exchange program of the Limited Collector’s Edition
When Microsoft announced the Limited Collector’s Edition of its anticipated game of the year, “Halo 5: Guardians,” fans did not expect to only get a digital download of the game. The company has since then remedied this by announcing that it will allow an exchange of the digital codes for a physical copy.
Microsoft has finally detailed the exchange via Microsoft Support. What owners of the Limited Collector’s Edition should do first is to open the Contact Us page of Xbox Support. Upon opening the page, they should select “Chat with Microsoft Support” to talk to a support agent.
Once connected, owners of the collector's edition only need to request for an exchange of their digital code for a “Halo 5: Guardians” physical disc. The support agent will ask for the owner's Xbox gamertag, email address, 25-digit code and shipping address. From there, it will take three to five business days for the disc and the accompanying code for the extra Limited Collector's Edition to arrive.
To be eligible for the exchange program, players must already have a secured copy of the Limited Collector’s Edition of “Halo 5: Guardians.” The code for the digital copy should, of course, be unredeemed.
Those interested in acquiring a physical disc should take advantage of the limited offer, which will run from Oct. 20 to Nov. 1. After Nov. 1, players will have to settle for the digital download that originally came with the Limited Collector’s Edition of “Halo 5: Guardians.”
Developer 343 Industries also revealed today that the Forge tools for “Halo 5” will not be available on the Oct. 27 launch of the game, Gamespot reports. The map editing tool of the sci-fi shooter will instead be available this December as a post-launch update.
First introduced in “Halo 3” back in 2007, the Forge editing tool for the game allows players to create their own maps for multiplayer use. The developer notes that the Forge mode for “Halo 5: Guardians” is the best iteration of the feature since its release in 2007.
