Harry Styles Talks 'Great' One Direction Shows Even Without Zayn Malik
Harry Styles recently opened up about what it’s like for One Direction now ever since Zayn Malik’s exit. The British heartthrob revealed that despite missing a key singer, the band has already moved on.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, or EW, Harry Styles was asked how One Direction had to cope up with Zayn Malik’s absence especially during stage performances.
“The only changes have been that the parts Zayn sang have been picked up by different people,” Styles revealed in the Entertainment Weekly report.
“Other than that, the shows have been going absolutely great,” Harry added.
HNGN reports that Zayn Malik’s exit from One Direction also meant losing one piece of their musical structure, especially when it comes to hitting those high notes. However, Harry Styles revealed that Liam Payne has taken over for Malik.
He complimented Payne for doing a wonderful job with Zayn Malik’s singing parts in “Story of My Life.” The former band member reportedly had a big solo in that piece. But despite his absence, Harry revealed that it would be devastating to take the song out from their performances. So instead, Liam has stepped in for the solo part. Harry noted how Payne “doesn’t hold back” when he belts out the high notes.
“He kicks them (crowd) in the bollocks every show,” Harry said to EW.
Fortunately, the other members of the band have gotten to know their songs so well that they have also picked up on Zayn Malik’s other singing parts.
In the same interview with Entertainment Weekly, Harry Styles also gave an update on One Direction’s first album without Zayn Malik. Styles teased the next album would be quite different from their last album “Four,” since it will have a “slightly new identity.” Harry added that they worked with different writers to make some great new songs.
Zayn Malik’s exit from One Direction was reportedly due to the band’s hectic tour schedule. Mirror UK reports that songwriter Jamie Scott told the Sunday People that Malik realised that he’s spending less time with his family because of the band. Malik reportedly had enough after almost four years of endless tours.
