Hilary Duff Shares She Had A 'Massive Friend Cleanse' To Keep Good Girl Image
Former Disney star Hilary Duff shared that she had her fair share of naughtiness and mistakes while she was younger but made sure her reputation would not be tainted. This included carrying out a "massive friend cleanse” and keeping an older boy she dated a secret.
In the April Issue of Cosmopolitan, Duff talked about the hard work she did to maintain a squeaky clean image. Now at 27, she is more than willing to share those times when she did something so far out from her “good girl” image. She shared though that to make sure her reputation would not be tainted, she had to unfriend a lot of people in the past, even though she knew it was not a good thing to do.
“That was really hard, to sit down with people and say ‘We can’t be friends anymore.’ They were like ‘That’s f—ked up; you’re a bitch.” She explained that having a good reputation was really important for her, even though she did engage in some “little naughties” here and there.
One of the naughties she said she engaged in was to have a top secret friend with benefits. Asked if she had an “eff buddy,” Duff shared that she did and enjoyed every minute of it. She said she also dated Joel Madden then at 26, when she was just 16. The relationship lasted until she was 19. Madden, now 36, is currently married to Nicole Richie and is a father of two.
Last Sunday, the actress made a splash on Instagram when she uploaded a selfie of her in nothing but a black bikini, looking toned and fit. In her caption, she added an inspirational message for mothers around the world, saying they still got it and that they should love their bodies. Duff is the mom of baby boy Luca who is turning three this week. It could be remembered that after she delivered her son, she said mothers whose bodies stayed the same after giving birth are “freaks of nature.” She said she is not one of these lucky women. She said she needed to work hard to lose all the pregnancy weight.
